Parkinson's disease is a brain disorder that causes unintended and uncontrollable movements, such as shaking, stiffness and difficulty with balance and coordination. Symptoms usually begin gradually and worsen over time. As the disease progresses, people may have difficulty walking and talking.

Parkinsons

In Parkinson's disease, certain nerve cells called neurons in the brain gradually break down or die. Many of the symptoms of Parkinson's are due to a loss of neurons that produce a chemical messenger in your brain called dopamine. When dopamine level decrease, it causes irregular brain activity, leading to problems with movement and other symptoms of Parkinson's disease.

Parkinson's disease is caused by a loss of nerve cells in part of the brain called the substantia nigra. This leads to a reduction in a chemical called dopamine in brain. Dopamine plays a vital role in regulating the movement of body. A reduction in dopamine is responsible for many of the symptoms of disease. Exactly what causes the loss of nerve cells is unclear. Most experts think that a combination of genetic and environmental factors is responsible.
